What is family systems therapy?

Family systems therapy looks at challenges not only as something happening within one individual, but also in the context of relationships and patterns within a family.

A therapist may explore how family members communicate, respond to conflict, establish roles and boundaries, and influence one another. The goal is to identify patterns that may no longer be working and help the family develop healthier ways of relating.

Therapeutic approaches vary by provider. Trifecta includes family therapists with specific experience in approaches such as Structural Family Therapy and Strategic Family Therapy.
